At LMACS, we prioritize regular attendance as integral to students’ learning journey. It’s not just a requirement; it’s an opportunity for full engagement in academic and personal growth. By being present, students not only benefit academically but also contribute to the vibrant school dynamic through their interactions with peers.
- Parents/DAs must notify the school of any known student absences, late arrivals, or dismissals on a daily basis, either through the attendance line or direct communication with school personnel. Students are only permitted to sign themselves out if the school has received prior notification from a parent or Designated Adult. It’s important to note that while legally, students under the age of 18 can excuse themselves for being late or absent, LMACS may still require communication with the parent/DA for student safety purposes.
- Parents/DAs are kept informed if their student is absent without prior notice, ensuring that any support needed is provided promptly.
- For extended absences related to physical or mental health reasons, parents/DAs are expected to communicate with the school nurse, administrator, or school counselor. Students must receive clearance from the nurse before returning to school following an absence due to a contagious disease, hospitalization, or three or more consecutive days away. To ensure proper support upon their return, a reentry meeting will be scheduled for students who have been absent due to any hospitalization. This proactive approach prioritizes the well-being of our students and maintains a safe and supportive learning environment for all.
In addition to regular school attendance, these expectations also apply to school-sponsored activities, such as Learning Through Interests experiences. Attending these activities is not only a valuable opportunity for students to explore real-world learning but also an integral part of their overall educational journey. It is important for students and their families to communicate promptly with school personnel if there are any concerns or challenges affecting attendance. By working together to address these issues, we can provide the necessary support and interventions to help students overcome obstacles and stay on track to achieve their academic and personal goals.
