At LMACS, students are expected to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity. Plagiarism, which involves using someone else’s work or ideas without permission and presenting them as your own, is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Copying: Using someone else’s work without proper credit or permission, whether it’s copying text verbatim or closely paraphrasing without acknowledgment.
- Context Change: Altering the context of the original work to disguise copying.
- Missing Footnotes: Failing to provide proper citations for sourced material.
- False References: Citing nonexistent or irrelevant books, journal articles, or other sources.
- Unauthorized AI Usage: Using AI tools to generate work without proper attribution or beyond permissible guidelines.
Students caught plagiarizing will first participate in a staff intervention to learn about academic integrity and may fail the assignment; repeated offenses will result in a meeting with their parents/guardians and LMACS administrators to create an action plan for improvement.
