Credit transfer policies are structured to recognize academic achievements at the sending school. Generally, courses where a student has earned credit at their sending school are eligible for credit transfer. MassCore courses are accepted seamlessly, ensuring that students’ foundational education remains consistent. However, the transferability of electives and shop courses depends on the availability of equivalent content at LMACS or an exception granted through consultation with the administration. The credit system at LMACS acknowledges the duration of the courses, with a full-year course counting for 2 LMACS credits, while a semester-long course counts as 1 credit. This policy is designed to facilitate a smooth transition for students, maintaining academic continuity and recognizing their prior educational accomplishments.
Given that each sending district employs its own distinct credit system, LMACS adheres to flexible guidelines when evaluating transfer credits. The process of determining each student’s credit transfer is approached on an individual, case-by-case, and school-by-school basis. This personalized evaluation allows LMACS to consider the unique nuances of each student’s academic background, accommodating the variations in credit systems across different sending districts. By adopting this tailored approach, LMACS ensures fairness and accuracy in the assessment of transfer credits, ultimately facilitating a smoother transition for students transferring from diverse educational settings.
In cases where a student has received a passing grade for just one quarter at their sending school, an opportunity for credit completion is provided through Edgenuity, an online educational program. This option allows students to fulfill the requirements of the course and earn credit at LMACS, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. By offering the flexibility of utilizing online resources, LMACS aims to support students in achieving a well-rounded education, even when faced with partial completion from their sending school.
Students in good standing at LMACS have the opportunity for additional transfer credits through a subsequent transcript review. This review process may result in the recognition of further credits earned at their previous sending school. By maintaining a positive academic standing at LMACS, students demonstrate their commitment to academic success, and the school acknowledges and rewards this dedication through ongoing assessments of their prior educational achievements.
