Full-Time Executive Director: View the Press Release | View the Job Posting | View on SchoolSpring
Dear LMACS Community:
Dr. Margaret McDevitt has shared with you the news of her retirement. Transition in leadership,
especially following the 17 year tenure of a dedicated Executive Director, can bring about many
emotions. Undoubtedly you have questions about the future of LMACS and the search for our next
Executive Director, that we hope to answer.
The Board of Trustees has appointed us Co-Chairs of the Executive Director (ED) Search Committee. We
know that finding the right, next ED for LMACS is essential, and will entail an extensive and inclusive
process. As volunteer Trustees of the School, we are cognizant that this undertaking will be the single
most important task we will perform during our tenure on the Board. So, we approach the work with deep
humility and with unwavering enthusiasm, determined to give it our very best. We have formed a Search
Committee that includes members of the faculty/staff, Board of Trustees, parent/guardian and alumni
communities, and greater Lowell community. Each committee member is deeply committed to this task,
to ensure that LMACS has an outstanding next leader.
The process is already underway. The ED position has been posted, as of January 8, 2021, to
SchoolSpring and Indeed, as well as LMACS’ and MCC’ websites and optimized for Google Jobs
searches. The search committee is responsible for confidentially reviewing all applications; selecting
candidates to be interviewed; conducting the first round of interviews; verifying applicants’ qualifications,
credentials, and references; and selecting the final 2-4 candidates to move on to a second round of
interviews, conducted by the Board of Trustees in a public forum.
We are committed to keeping you informed of the process. All future communications will be
electronic and will be posted on the school's website.
We are grateful to Dr. McDevitt for her leadership, the team she has built at LMACS, and for setting the
bar high for our future school leader. As we enter this next phase in LMACS’ story, we are confident that
LMACS, built as a family of faculty, staff, students, families, volunteers, and partnerships, will lean in to
the opportunities that lie ahead.
